Shelldiver Skill Tree Guide: Choose Perks for Your Goal

Use Shelldiver's confirmed branching skill-tree concept to choose a goal, while keeping undocumented perk effects, costs, and tiers explicit.

What does the official material confirm about the skill tree?

The official Steam description says Shelldiver has a large branching skill tree. It frames perk choices around the parts of an expedition a player wants most, with examples ranging from the oxygen tank to shop size.

An official Steam announcement also says players can hover upgrades to see which collectibles they require. That confirms that at least some skill-tree choices have collectible requirements; it does not publish a complete list, values, or path diagram.

How should you choose a perk?

Start with one current goal, then favor the visible option that the game itself connects to that goal:

Goal Officially named area to inspect Boundary
Longer dives Oxygen-tank related options No exact duration or depth gain is published here.
Shop progression Shop-size related options No sales multiplier or price is assumed.
Better collection setup Tool or collection-related choices No perk effect is guessed from its name.
Broader exploration The visible requirements for the next expedition No route or unlock order is claimed.

Use this alongside the submarine and tools guide for materials and equipment, and the jellyfish guide when the goal is shop income.

Why is there no best build here?

There is no official public table in the checked sources for individual perk names, values, costs, prerequisites, stacking, respec rules, or version-specific balance. Calling one path “best” would therefore be an unsupported conclusion.

The right way to add a future build recommendation is to record the game version, exact perk text, observable effect, cost, and comparison method. Until then, this is a planning guide rather than a tier list.

What should you check before committing resources?

Before choosing an option, inspect its stated collectible requirement and compare it to the immediate purpose of the next dive. If the game has changed since this page’s review date, prefer the current in-game wording over an old article. The depths and biomes guide provides the same safeguard for map and resource claims.
