Shelldiver Biomes and Depths Guide: Plan Each Descent

Separate Shelldiver's confirmed biome, depth, resource, and oxygen concepts from undocumented maps, unlock rules, locations, and farming claims.

What does Shelldiver officially say about biomes and depth?

The official Steam description says players unlock and explore distinct biomes, varying ocean depths, and unique resources. It gives volcanic waters and crystalline caverns as examples and tells players to watch their oxygen supply.

An official post-release Steam announcement mentions a change to mushroom quantity at the 600m depth. That is useful confirmation that the game uses depth milestones, but it is not a complete depth list or a map of every resource.

What can you plan before a descent?

Treat each descent as a goal-and-checkpoint decision:

  1. Pick the visible biome or depth goal available in your current game state.
  2. Check oxygen and the equipment requirements that the game currently displays.
  3. Decide whether the goal is jellyfish collection, salvage materials, or exploration.
  4. Use the jellyfish guide, submarine and tools guide, and skill-tree guide to keep the relevant system in view.

This is a planning method, not a map route. It stays useful even when an update changes exact requirements.

Which facts are confirmed and which are not?

Topic Confirmed by official material Not published in the checked sources
Biomes Unique biomes exist; volcanic waters and crystalline caverns are named examples. Full biome count, order, and access conditions.
Depths Multiple depths exist; a 600m patch note exists. Every depth milestone, its requirement, and its full contents.
Resources Unique resources and dismantleable materials are described. Resource tables, spawn points, quantities, and respawn rules.
Oxygen Players should monitor oxygen. Exact capacity, drain rate, failure condition, and upgrade values.

Why no complete resource map yet?

A resource map needs an explicit version, a repeatable capture method, and enough observations to distinguish a location guarantee from a chance encounter. The public official descriptions checked for launch do not provide that data. Until it exists, a detailed map would look helpful while quietly manufacturing facts.

For a broader orientation, return to the official overview. For a source-safe way to turn finds into shop progress, use the jellyfish guide.
